Steve Carrell & John Krasinski Are Reuniting For A New Movie With Ryan Reynolds
Fans of The Office look to be getting a long awaited reunion as Steve Carell is set to join former Office cohort John Krasinski in the Quiet Place helmer’s next directing gig IF at Paramount Pictures. Alan Kim, Cailey Fleming and Louis Gossett Jr. are also on board, joining Ryan Reynolds and Krasinski, who will star in the pic. Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Fiona Shaw are also on board.
Details are being kept under wraps, but the story is based on an original idea of Krasinski’s, about a child’s journey to rediscover their imagination. Krasinski will direct, write and produce the original film via his company, Sunday Night, with partners Allyson Seeger and Andrew Form producing. Reynolds will also produce via his company, Maximum Effort. George Dewey will executive produce.
This is the first time that Carrell and Krasinksi have worked together since The Office wrapped up, and I think it is something we need right now. Having them + one of the funniest actors in the game in Ryan Reynolds is a great sign for this movie. What might be even better is having one of the funniest actresses in Phoebe Waller-Bridge on board as well. She is the star and brain behind 'Fleabag', which was one of the funnier, grimier series in recent memory.
Those of you that watched 'Minari' know that Alan Kim is also a phenomenal kid actor. I say it all the time: A bad kid actor can absolutely derail a movie. Especially when those movies are centered around said kid. That gives me great hopes for this movie despite not being over the moon about the concept. It feels more Pixar than live action, but I'm willing to give it a chance.
By the way, shoutout to Office Jim and Pam, who recently got the 5 seed in our WORST COUPLES bracket.
