Nick Kyrgios is a Grand Slam Champion And That's Absolutely Incredible
(Full disclosure I had this blog written hours ago and then Tom Brady took over the internet so fuck me right? I fully recognize it’s a tennis blog in the middle of a crazy NFL day but here you go)
Players that Nick Kyrgios has more doubles grand slam titles than: Novak Djokovic, Rafa Nadal, Roger Federer, Daniil Medvedev
Nick Kyrgios is a grand slam champion — no two ways about it that's absolutely hilarious. Little less than two weeks ago Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis received early knockouts in the singles tournament of the Aussie Open. They still had doubles though where the two best friends typically team up and fuck around for a bit in the Aussie. Flash forward to today and they're grand slam champions. These motherfuckers messed around and won the whole damn thing beating the #1, #15, #6 and #3 seeds along the way. Kind of a tough look for those doubles teams that play together all the time, only to get dusted by these two guys that barely practice at all.
At the end of the day they're just way more talented than anyone they come across on a doubles court as you can see here.
Great moment for Kyrgios who called this is the highlight of his career. He's won some big matches in the past against the games very best, but in terms of a career achievement, winning a grand slam championship with your best friend in your home country isn't getting topped. Before this Nick wasn't sure if he was going to continue playing tennis, but I really hope these two keep playing doubles and rack up slam titles. Nick has always been more tailored for team events. When he's out there by himself he loses his mind, but when he's playing for his country or with his best pal you're going to get the most out of him. Good on him.
