Golden Tate Is Back......Playing Minor League Baseball!

Forgot about Golden Tate, didn't ya? Yes he was an answer on The Dozen Tournament II but he's also back in a HUGE way. The retired NFL player is now a minor league baseball player with the Port Angeles Lefties of the West Coast League.

Now if you're wondering, he does swing it lefty but I'm not sure if thats why he chose to sign with them. He made his debut this week starting in center field for the lefties and went 2/4 with a double, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base. Filling up the stat sheet in his first game back. And this isn't just a celebrity appearance for Tate he played college baseball at Notre Dame and was also drafted to the bigs twice, 15 years ago and 12 years ago. It's obvious the guy can play, it may be a little late in life for a reemergence but good for him for going out and giving it a try.

It's a good swing, I assume the speed is still there and plays, and you know he can cover a lot of ground in center. I'm not sure what his endgame is here, but it is cool to see him back out there. I think it's safe to say he won't be making the bigs, but from this short clip I think its okay to say that this isn't a Tim Tebow experience, Tate can actually play. So we won't be hearing any people getting upset about him taking a roster spot in the west coast wood bat league. Looking forward to seeing Tate hit bombs off of college kids home on summer break!
