The Hottest Team In Baseball Has Quadrupled Their Percentage Of Making The Playoffs Since Opening Day
THAT'S RIGHT BABY! Who has the longest winning steak in baseball? That would be YOUR Baltimore Orioles. 5 straight Ws for the Birds puts them at 40-44, making the AL East the only division in baseball with all their teams at or above 40 wins. It's a god damn gauntlet in the East. If you'd have told me at the beginning of the year that the Orioles would have 40 wins before the second weekend in July I'd have had you drug tested, but here we are with them just 5 games out of a Wildcard Spot and most importantly, their playoff odds have QUADRUPLED from Opening Day. Yup, you read that correctly. The Orioles started this season with a 0.1% chance to make the playoffs. But their recent 26-20 stretch has them looking at a 0.4% chance to make the playoffs. Show me another team that could have their odds quadrupled....you can't. The hottest team in baseball just keeps trucking along and stacking up wins. The fact that this team was projected to be dog shit again this season but they're out here quadrupling their playoff chances is something, wait till that % jumps up to 1% or even 2%.
Ever since Adley came up this team is playing winning baseball and I don't think that is a coincidence at all. It does stink that they have to play the other AL East teams 19 times but hey, like Rick Flair said "To be the best you have to beat the best" so that is what they're going to have to do. That 0.4% chance is nothing to scoff at either, we've seen less likely stuff happen. This team is playing awesome and others are starting to notice. It's only a matter of time before they're at .500 and then watch out, sky is the limit. I thought they were going to be playoff spoilers for someone this year but it turns out they might just go to the dance. But seriously, baseball is fun again in Baltimore and people are having a blast during this stretch, you love to see it.
