WVU Football Completed Step 1 In Order To Be Cool Again - Officially Offered A Scholarship To Noel Devine's Son
I think it's more than fair to say there are cool college football programs. WVU was one of those once upon a time. Pat White, Steve Slaton, Noel Devine. Those teams that choked against Pitt in the Backyard Brawl is for sure a cool team. Now, they aren't as cool as The U, because no one will ever be, but they were by definition cool. Full of highlights, fun to play with in NCAA Football, you wanted to watch them.
Since then? Uh well they've been around. They had two good seasons since those guys left - winning 10 games with Geno Smith in 2011 and 10 games in 2016. But now? Now they are getting back to it. You HAVE to offer Noel Devine's kid a scholarship for the sole reason that Noel might have the best football mixtape of all time.
That's what I want to focus on here. Not the 'how old are we now' take that always happens when a guy's kid gets a scholarship. People get older and have kids. That's just life. West Virginia needs to get back to this sort of stuff. West Virginia is an iconic football program because of that + the couch burning. You can't burn couches unless you're good.
This is step 1.
