Big Cat And PFT Commenter Explain Why They Have Never Gotten Into A Real Fight

On today's Pardon My Take... RYEN RUSSILLO! The longtime recurring guest of the show joined Mr. Cat and Mr. Commenter on today's show to discuss plenty of topics, including who some of his best interviews were, his NFL hot takes, a Mount Rushmore of "Everyday Tasks That Should Be Olympic Sports," and much more.

Whenever Russillo is on the show, the topic always seems to take interesting turns. One of them happened on today's episode, where Russillo found out that Mr. Cat and Mr. Commenter never never gotten in a "real" fight before. Despite 6+ years of a podcast relationship, three episodes a week, and hundreds of interviews, their chemistry is still top notch to this day. How is that possible? We got some answers on today's show.

Mr. Cat: It is funny, because we'll be on trips and stuff, and people always ask, like, "Do you guys ever get in fights?" And we actually, like, honestly have never gotten in a real fight.

Ryen Russillo: You guys have never gotten into a fight?

Mr. Cat: Not a real fight.

    Ryen Russillo: That's fucking crazy.

Mr. Cat: But what will happen is, and it happens every trip, where it's like, we'll be at the end of the trip, and we'll just be sitting in an Uber, all of us silent. Because we're like, "It's time for us to all just be alone for a minute."

Mr. Commenter: But we have that level of awareness where we know that if we're going to talk to each other, we're going to get into like little, minor, little arguments that will turn into something bigger. So, our way to get around that is to just bring Billy around. And that way, we get all of our aggression out on him. And so that way, it's like, me and Big Cat are still a team, we have Billy to shit on. I think that's very healthy.

Mr. Cat: But PFT and I have never… yeah.

Ryen Russillo: But Billy, he seems to fill the Mario Chalmers role a little bit on the show.

    Mr. Cat: Yeah.

Ryen Russillo: But yeah, that's pretty crazy, you guys have never fought. It's funny, because I was just out in the hallway talking to one of the guys about SVP & Russillo, and I, you know, said the funny thing about that show was, like, a lot of people think I got the show because I was his friend, and he just liked me on the air. We Weren't friends at all, and then we became friends because of the show. And to be in a room with a guy four hours every day for six years, we didn't have five fights. And four, maybe the three or four that we had, we had two that were pretty good.

Ryen Russillo: They're both definitely my fault because I was like, you know, sort of being like, you know, that was my own shit of being insecure, of being there and kind of having this platform and knowing nobody wanted me to have it. And, you know, it sometimes would just build up. But I always feel great. Like, I've seen radio shows where guys fucking hate each other.

Mr. Cat: Oh yeah, I mean, Mike & Mike at the end. Mike & Mike at the end, that 30 for 30, they're like, they literally did not speak to each other unless it was on air. They would sit down in silence and then the light would turn on. They would talk, do a show, and then walk away in silence, which is nuts. That's nuts to me. That's such a level of, and wait, did I say Mike & Mike?

    Mr. Commenter: Yeah.

Mr. Cat: Oh, I didn't mean Mike & Mike, but also them.

Ryen Russillo: Yeah, because I was kind of like, there's a 30 for 30 on Mike & Mike?

Mr. Cat: Mike & The Mad Dog, yeah. They were…

Ryen Russillo: Mike & The Dog.

    Mr. Cat: Yeah.

Mr. Commenter: There was a story that came out…

Mr. Cat: But Mike & Mike, I think was the same.

Mr. Commenter: Mike & Mike wouldn't talk to each other.

Mr. Cat: Yes, so both. So I guess, the key is just not to have a Mike.

Ryen Russillo: That's a good way. If you're a program director listening right now, don't hire anybody named Mike.

Mr. Cat: I've had fights with Hank, but I've never, and I think PFT has as well, but I think PFT and I always have lie a good understanding of like, we're in it together. Like, we are, it's just, we always have each other's back.

Ryen Russillo: It's a relationship, man. I mean, it really is, without the sex, usually… for most shows.

Mr. Cat: Well, that's why we have Bat Girl…

I have only been a part of their team for three years, but it really is impressive how good the dynamic has been between Big Cat and PFT since they launched the show in February of 2016. What they said about the "being in it together" part is really what means the most. A fight wouldn't help anyone involved, and it's cool to see their relationship be in this spot for this long.
