Now Recovered From Cancer, Mark Seems Open To A Proper Blink-182 Reunion

Everyone knows I'm an OG blink fan. They were my first concert way back in 7th grade. Been blogging the blink-182 beat since I was hired in 2013. Through break ups and reunions, the thick and thin. I was writing about blink when Tom was considered a fool for wanting to be an alien hunter. And I was one of those people who said it! My apologies to Tom! We've seen Tom come and go, Travis become a Kardashian, and sadly, Mark battle cancer. But now it seems like everyone is happy and healthy and as it always seems to happen, chatter of a real reunion starts to surface. But this time, it's from Mark himself:

People - In the new issue of PEOPLE, the Blink-182 bassist-vocalist discusses the future of the band after his cancer journey.

The band has seen several breaks and lineup changes over the years. But there was nothing but harmony with drummer Travis Barker and vocalist-guitarist Tom DeLonge (who left the group in 2015) when they found out Hoppus had been diagnosed with stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma in April 2021. Barker and DeLonge visited Hoppus at home before he began chemotherapy.

"It was the first time that all three of us were in the same room in like five years," Hoppus says. "It's actually better than it used to be. There was no agenda. There were no lingering grudges. It felt very back to what it should be: three friends sitting in a room."

"Everybody's in a really great place right now."

Hoppus has nothing to announce — yet.

"I keep writing music, and I'm open to whatever the next phase of Blink is," he says. "I'm hopeful for the future. I'm just damn glad to be here."

Isn't that great? I mean, obviously blink will never be exactly the same as they were back in the day. Back when they were just kids trying to make it in the world, running around naked, making the dirtiest jokes possible on stage. Seriously, the fact my parents let me listen to the live album "The Mark, Tom, and Travis Show" as a teen changed the trajectory of my life forever. When I realized you could make a living being crude, woah boy.

I would venture to say a proper blink reunion with the full band is more likely to happen than not. Maybe it's a few festivals and a few arenas, who knows. But I definitely think it will happen. They all like making music, Travis definitely wants to produce a new blink album and make it more punk rock than the last few, and Tom needs cash to hunt down aliens. Make one last album together, play some shows, make some money, what's better than that.

And to echo Bob Fox, it's just nice to see Mark healthy and on stage again.
