Travon Walker Is An Absolute Menace Who Will Put The Fear of God Into Offensive Lines For A Decade

I'll be honest. I wasn't hyped about the Travon Walker pick at first. He had all the physical tools you could possibly dream of but his sack numbers in college were insanely low for someone considered with the first pick overall. It was all projection. It was all body type and skill set, not on-field production from a numbers standpoint. This pick needed trust from the front office which is something that just does not exist in Jacksonville.

Throughout the offseason, I didn't care about Walker either. There were reports that he was whipping the tackles but our tackles arent world burners so I thought it was more of an indictment on them than an indication about the skills of the Travon. But then the first preseason game happened and you could see the Monster on the field in the flesh. It was something. His first few snaps showed what he was gonna be and that's flat out special.

He goes after the right guard, gets some push, and elevates to give the QB a very tight window. Love that disruption. He does so much so well. I liked that play because it was pretty clear how different physically he is than other players we've had. Look how high he is. Look how much space he takes up just by being there. A play where he really doesn't do anything, he's doing something.

There have been plays where he will sit in the flat and essentially take the entire area away because he's so big, strong, long, and fast. He's changed the way this defense can play. Between him and Devin Llyod, the Jaguars picked up two young studs who are not playing like rookies just 3 weeks into the season. And spoiler alert, doctors have found that both do indeed have that dog in them.

Week 1, he just outclasses the right tackle and gets to Wentz with ease which after yesterday doesn't look nearly as impressive. The Jaguars look impressive on defense overall. In the last two weeks, they've outscored the other team 62-10 and that's with 3 field goals inside of 30 yards.

This young core is something special. They've been dominate. Hopefully that continues for a long time behind the monster we took at number 1 overall. Duval, baby. We are fuckin back.
