The Dude Who Plays Jeffrey Dahmer In The New Netflix Miniseries Is THIS Guy???
I'm about half way through DAHMER - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, the new miniseries on Netflix. Here's the trailer:
I've been busting out an episode a night or so while I fall asleep at night. It's very, very good. SUPER fucked up, but good. If you're into watching dudes having sex with dead, decapitated bodies of men and boys he's drugged, bludgeoned, and brutally murdered, this mini-series is for you.
The same is true if you're into true crime documentaries, miniseries, podcasts or whatever. DAHMER will be right up your alley. That's why I'm so into it, personally. Because I love this genre of entertainment. Not the aforementioned reason. Serial, Making a Murderer, doesn't matter. Love them all and am completely captivated by them all.
I'm also a sucker for actors that display great range when from role to role. That's what I criticize Denzel Washington here and there; he kinda attacks each role of his in a similar manner. It's not like Leo going from Jack Dawson, to Monsieur Candie to the dude that bangs the bear carcass. Range on range on range on range from the latter, not as much from the former IMO
So as I advanced through this Netflix series on one of the most infamous serial killers of our time, I couldn't help but think to myself, "man, this dude is really crushing this role" and threw his name into google. Actually, I take that back - I googled "Dahmer actor" at first, because I didn't recognize the guy at all. Yes, he was in makeup and shit but I had no idea who he was at a glance. For some reason, the movie "Dahmer" from 2002 was the first google hit which is led by Jeremy Renner. For a SPLIT SECOND I was thinking to myself, "wait wtf?? This is Jeremy Renner???" before realizing Renner starred in a movie about Dahmer (literally) 20 years ago.
Haven't seen it. I'll def check it out though. Jeremy Renner is a pretty good fucking actor.
Continuing, I finally figured it out. The cat that plays Dahmer in his newest form is Evan Peters. Clicked his filmography tab and have admittedly seen next to NOTHING that he's done. I know American Horror Story is wildly popular, it's just one of those shows I haven't seen yet for no reason at all. X-Men? I'm not CRAZY into that genre of movies, though I do enjoy them almost every time I go out of my way to watch them. But... haven't seen X-Men
Mare of East Town was excellent, but I watched it when it came out and don't really remember him doing much in it - I think he was the cop? or maybe not THE cop, but A cop? - but maybe that's because this was on my mind most of the movie:
That's when I saw he was in Never Back Down. Hmmm. Okay. I've seen that movie and love that movie. We'll get to it later. Need to first find out who Peters played in it.
What role was he? Wait WHAT??? He was that chubby little idiot that gets his ass kicked in an attempt to goad Jake into fighting Ryan at the Beat Down??????????

This kid???
He's such a cringeworthy little idiot in that movie!!! Holy fuck! If you would have told me the actor that played Max Cooperman in Never Back Down was never in another movie or TV show again afterwards, I'd believe you. But he's not. He's starring in what is a WILDLY captivating miniseries and he's fucking crushing it. Bravo to him. Sincerely.
MAKE IT MAKE SENSE THOUGH! I guess actors, just like athletes, get better as time goes on.
Now that we're on the topic of Never Back Down - I consider it the best "awful" movie ever. I mean, it objectively sucks, but I absolutely love it in spite of how bad it is. Stupid plot that just isn't in any way realistic (even though it's packaged as such) and kinda bad acting. But holy shit is it entertaining. I will watch it every. single. time. it's on. Has peak Amber Heard too. That said, I just cannot believe the little dip shit that winds up in the hospital has blossomed into this big time star. Never would have guessed it in a million years.
