OK, there's a lot of words in these Woj tweets and a lot to digest, so allow me to do my best to keep it simple.

"Teams like the Warriors are so good at scouting, drafting, developing, and then paying their talent top dollar to keep them together while they win titles and frankly it's unfair so let's limit what teams can spend"

Let's just call this what it is. Other NBA owners are upset that in order to compete, they're going to have to pay. The luxury tax penalty is a drop in the bucket for the Warriors/Nets/Clippers owners so instead they care about doing whatever possible in order to contend and win titles. That seems like something the league should want right? If other owners aren't willing to pay or think that's unfair…sell your team. Stop being broke. Notice how there's no reporting about capping how much money those owners can make right? We all know how much money is coming into the league via the new TV deals, so please stop crying about this.

Is it "fair" that certain owners are uber rich and are willing to spend $500M on a roster when other owners in small markets won't even touch the luxury tax? I guess not, but welcome to the world. Life isn't fair. The luxury tax rules exist, but if an owner doesn't care about it then that's their business.

A move like this would drastically change how teams are built. It would be a terrible, terrible idea. Maybe instead of crying about how much the Warriors spend, these other owners should look for ways to improve their own teams. Draft better, build a better culture so help attract free agents, etc. It's not like GS went out on a shopping spree and stole all these players from other teams, they were already Warriors! It's their fault that MIN made a terrible trade for Wiggins? I don't think so.

No shit the NBPA considers this a non-starter. Why wouldn't they? I was already nervous about a potential lockout given everything that's gone on with guys demanding trades w/ 4+ years left on their deal, but now if the owners are going to dig in about this hard cap idea, there's no chance we have an NBA season. What would be the point of the Draft if you can't even keep your own players if that pick works out?

Imagine not being able to keep a franchise type talent all because of a hard cap? What a terrible idea. I just can't understand the rationale for putting something in place that technically penalizes teams for drafting well and successfully building their roster.

Again, these owners are BILLIONAIRES who are making a shit ton of money by owning their team. More of that is on the way with the new TV deal. So for them to also come out and try and find ways to not have pressure to spend that money in order to improve their team or contend is pathetic. All this feels like is other owners pocket watching what's going on in GS and then getting upset that they're going to have to fork over that type of cash themselves. If you're broke, sell the team (for billions).

I would think the NBA would want all owners to follow what GS/BKN/LAC are doing. They are investing in their franchise in hopes of contention. Is that a tough pill to swallow for a small market team? I guess, but trying to limit what others are willing to do all because you don't want to cut that same check yourself while also pocketing all the profits from the league is very pathetic.

If we end up actually having a lockout over this bullshit, I'll never forgive Adam Silver.
