Dave Portnoy Makes A Big Statement With Justin Fields
Dave Portnoy made a major statement this past week with a HUGE win in The Show Fantasy League. After a 4-0 start, Dave had lost his last 4 and was facing a red hot Manny Machado who was also 4-4 going into their matchup this past weekend. He was a big underdog going in and proceeded to put up a league high 163.52 points in Week 9.
Portnoy made the brilliant coaching decision to start Justin Fields over more established veterans like Kirk Cousins, Tom Brady, and the much improved Geno Smith. The move paid immediate dividends as Fields put up 123 passing yards with 3 passing TDs to go along with 178 rushing yards and 1 rushing TD to the tune of 48.72 points. The win puts Portnoy at 5-4 in 5th place while dishing a crucial loss to playoff contender Machado.
Dave continues to try and put moves to put him over the top, dealing from his position of strength, the Quarterback position to build up other areas of his team.
With this move, he secures both of Atlanta's top Runningbacks and adds insurance in case Cordarrelle Patterson misses a game. The rest of the league was fairly chalky outside of the Joc Pederson/Austin Barnes/Alex Wood trio upsetting the streaking Mike Trout with a 142.64 - 130.08 win.
