The Dozen Week 8 is here and back with another strong slate of games. We got a classic match-up between The Experts and Gen XYZ, the first-time face-off between Team Ziti and The Family, and a rematch from last season of urMom and Uptown Balls. Our correspondent Scoops L'Aguirre has the breakdown…

Gen XYZ Category Advantages: History, College Basketball, Music
Both The Experts and Gen XYZ are coming off blowout wins against the new-look Big Screamin’ Honkers. These two teams are facing off for the sixth time, Gen XYZ won their first two matches in the pre-Fran era, but The Experts have won the last three in a row. This makes sense as Large & Vibbs are typically a strong duo in Mashups, Television, and Movies where they swept those categories back when it was just PFT/Brandon; Fran neutralizes that treat. As a whole, Fran has been carrying The Experts as she’s been the highest scorer dating back to the Tournament Semifinals.

The Family Category Advantages: College Basketball, Television, Movies
We got a No Quitters reunion match between Clem & Eddie vs. Reags. Ziti and The Family are two teams in wildly different positions. Ziti had the highest scoring Season 3 debut, dropping 17 points on the Icemen, and have their highest rank ever coming off a trip to last season’s tournament semifinals. A win for Ziti would be another boost to their stats heading into the Boston Live show next week. Meanwhile, The Family tied for the lowest-scoring Season 3 debut in a devastating OT loss to urMom. If The Family loses this week, they might face potential relegation; it is a must-win game for them.

urMom Category Advantages: Television, College Football, NHL
The last time Uptown Balls and urMom played, we had one of the best and most chaotic games in Dozen history. In classic Uptown Balls fashion, they watched themselves blow a 10-6 lead with only two rounds to play. Matches like these are what made Uptown Balls battle tested and ready for the anxiety of the tourney. There’s no way these two teams won’t have an entertaining.
Uptown Balls should be the favorites as a much stronger Sports team, but they can be their own worst enemies at times. Rudy is the person to look out for – he was the leading scorer for much of last season, except this season, he’s averaging less than 2 points per game after his first two matches.

- Season 2 (2021): Frankettes def. urMom
WEEK 8 RANKINGS
- Even after a dominant win, Team Minihane couldn’t move up from the #3 ranking, although that is bound to change after the Boston tournament as both they and The Frankettes will be playing.
- Spittin Chiclets skyrockets up the rankings from 18 to 9 after their win over Foreplay, and Macrodosing goes from the relegation zone up to 13 after beating the Booze Ponies.
- The Booze Ponies and Foreplay are in weirdly good spots despite both being winless this season, mainly due to fan-vote and their games being entertaining.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
- Kirk returned to MVP form last week and went full Steph Curry mode in the second half of their game against the Icemen.
- Dana gets Defensive Player of the Week as he had three steals in an impressive performance. Unfortunately, his fumble on the Aaron Craft Big-10 Defensive Player of the Year question ended up being the difference in their loss. Which leads us to…
- Our Rookie of the Week, Mad Dog. She dominated her team’s Niche question, stole Dana’s Double College Basketball question, and swept Celebrity Mashup. Mad Dog has been a pleasant surprise in both games she’s played this season.
