The Mavs GM Celebrated Signing Kemba Walker By Immediately Talking About How Bad His Knee Is And That They Have No Idea How Long Kemba Can Play

It goes without saying that I'm a huge Kemba guy. Love him as a player, he was a great Celtic, and from everything we know is widely considered one of the best people in the entire league. It's impossible to hate Kemba I feel like and he'll have my support for as long as he continues to try and keep his NBA dream alive.

While things didn't exactly work out as a Knick, the Mavs have decided to roll the dice and see if Kemba can give them some sort of lift

Lord knows their roster needs any sort of help it can get. As soon as they let Brunson go and then never really brought in another secondary ball handler, I always thought that the Mavs could be a potential landing spot for Kemba. If he can give you 75-80% of what he did as a Celtic, there's no way that doesn't help.

When it came time for the Mavs GM Nico Harrison to talk about the signing and some of the concerns around this version of Kemba, he had quite the response

I'm sorry, is this supposed to get fans excited? You're basically saying that you know his knee is cooked but you're so desperate to do something and don't really have any other ways to improve. That little knee issue? Oh well it's a complete disaster and probably ruined him forever, but he feels good for the moment. We have no idea how long it's going to last though so don't get too comfortable.

I mean…what?

He was obviously healthy enough to pass the physical, but man is that not exactly what you would want to hear from the GM of your favorite team. The Mavs are 1-5 in their last 6, everyone is a little on edge right now, and this is how the head of the team talks about their new big signing. That just seems a little weird to me. If there's still concern about it, don't sign Kemba. I know it's a non-guaranteed deal so if they need to get out of it I'm sure it won't be hard, but that's not really the point. There's already a ton of issues with how the Mavs have built their roster given what we're currently watching, so maybe bringing in a player who you have no idea if they will be able to actually play for you doesn't seem like the best route.

Either way, I'm rooting for Kemba. They're back in MSG today so maybe we get a Vintage Kemba showing. I certainly hope so, because Vintage Kemba is fun as shit.
