Kabosu The Actual Dogecoin Dog Isn’t Doing So Hot, You Guys

Giphy Images.

Humans don’t deserve any dogs, let alone the extra good boys and girls whose legend will never die. Think…

Air Bud.

The Taco Bell chihuahua.

Kabosu the ‘Dogecoin’ dog (doge?).

Unfortunately it appears that we don’t have too long left with Kabosu.

According to her owner, Kabosu, who is 17 (!), isn’t doing so hot…

(Imagine complaining about not being able to read that when Kabosu is on her deathbed.)

The Shiba Inu, who reportedly didn’t even consider lawyering up after a bunch of crypto virgins hijacked her image and likeness, is seriously ill (and I mean that in the worst way possible).

CNN - Kabosu, the internet-famous dog who inspired the “doge” meme and influenced digital culture for a decade, is seriously ill with leukemia and liver disease.

The 17-year-old shiba inu stopped “eating and drinking voluntarily” on Christmas Eve, and has been diagnosed with acute cholangiohepatitis and chronic lymphoma leukemia, according to a series of Instagram posts by her owner Atsuko Sato, a kindergarten teacher in Sakura, Japan.

While Sato said Kabosu’s appetite had returned, she had previously blogged that the dog was moving around less, and more slowly.

For those of you still living in Web2, Dogecoin, which started as a parody to make fun of fake internet money, is now the 8th largest crypto by market cap.

The creator of Doge, ripped off the popular “doge” meme as inspiration for his shitcoin. And as you might have guessed at this point, the doge meme was just a picture of Kabosu with some Comic Sans font. The image was ripped from her human’s blog in 2010… and then the internet did what the internet does best.

I think I speak for everyone in sending T’s and P’s (and virtual belly scratches) to Kabosu.

PS - Of course, now’s not the time to talk about making money, but if it was, this could present an interesting trading opportunity (and I mean that in the loosest sense of the word). It’s probably safe to assume Elon will tweet about this at some point, because, well, he Tweets about everything. And when Elon Tweets about Dogecoin, people listen. Case in point: the run-up to Elon’s May 2021 appearance on SNL, during which he wouldn’t STFU about Dogecoin.
