Addressing The Future Of Redline Radio And Barstool Chicago

I want to bring you guys back to a simpler time. The year was 2020. Barstool had just sold to Penn for a gazillion million dollars making Dave Portnoy, a man who delivered papers for 20 years, a deservedly very rich man. Barstool Chicago worked out of a Farmers Insurance office that led to our very rich boss making this face when seeing our office

Before Portnoy had ever seen that office he decided to give us a radio slot on Sirius XM. Starting right after the Super Bowl and right before the entire world shut down because some germs jumped out of a lab in China. The government deemed "media" aka "some idiots in Chicago" as essential workers and since we were such a small amount of people we were allowed to go to work every day. We did the show in the morning, then the afternoon. Sometimes for 1 hour, other stretches for two hours. Every day. And... we liked it. And...apparently so did most/many of you.

Then the Sirius contract ran out and since we were working in a shoe box with almost no tech our show ended. We physically couldn't just shift it over to youtube like the YAK and Picks Central so it was sadly discontinued. We've had calls to bring it back, but there were some obstacles in our way.

Now we have an opportunity to bring it back...we think (still waiting on some clearances from a tech perspective). Once we have all the legal and tech issues sorted we will officially launch which we all hope is soon because we are excited to start.

I think we can all admit that Redline got a little stale. Some of it was circumstantial with the teams all being horrendous. Some of it was us. We want to get back to the vibe that made our job fun and made the sirius show and the snake draft popular. That is part of the reason why we want to change the name. Redline, at times, got too bogged down talking about BABIP, backup right guards, Blackhawks prospects, and Jerry Reinsdorf. We want a broader appeal. We want to have more fun. We want to get out in the city more. We want more dust-offs, more WSD challenges, more fun. We want to talk about more national stories in and out of sports and do it more than once per week. With that said...Chicago Sports will always have a place in our content. It's how we started here 10 years ago and it's part of who we are. Redline Radio will be more of a (long) segment in a show that provides much more content overall.

Truly appreciate the people who have stuck with us the entire time and I think everyone will enjoy the new format and the additional content we have planned for 2023.
