I Thought Of 5 Events The NBA Should Add To All-Star Weekend If They Want To Spice Things Up

It's safe to say All Star Weekend is one of those things you loved as a kid, and couldn't care less about as an adult. I remember waking up watching literally everything during All Star Weekend. There was some mascot game or dunk contest or something at a fan fest during Inside Stuff as a kid and I thought it was the coolest thing ever, The Gorilla mascot from Phoenix jumping off a trampoline ... sign me up.

Friday night was the rising stars or the rookies sophomores, then the celebrity game ... ate it up. Saturday night was 2-ball, skills competition, the 3 point contest, and the dunk contest. It seemed like my parents went out a few years considering it was usually  President's Day weekend, which meant a sitter ordering pizza m. That was fine for me. A bomb could have gone off in the living room I was good in my room, or the basement as long as I could watch All Star Saturday night. That was more than enough for me as a kid.

I wish I knew how simple things were back then, and how good things were, because I couldn't care less about tonight's events. I actually feel like the grumpy old guy asking "How many new dunks can we really see that haven't ever been done anyway? " It sucks. I wish I could just order a pizza and be infatuated with slam dunks. Things change. Life happens, what are you gonna do.

I'm actually not positive I will ever get back to watching the events as closely as I did as a kid, but I have a half cocked idea of some events they can add that would at least make me say ... "Well that's interesting, that might be something I want to watch."

An MJ vs Lebron One on One Computer Simulated Game

Just to watch Skip Bayless and Steven A Smith's heads explode over the result on monday morning. Those guys love nothing more than to debate MJ and Lebron.

$1 Million Dollar Horse Challenge

Maybe this is two guys who got in a fight earlier in the year and want nothing more than to take money out of the other's pocket. Maybe it's Steph and Klay fighting over who really is the best shooter. Maybe it's Portnoy and Big Cat finding a way to spend their new money and have ultimate bragging rights over each other. Maybe it's Michael Jordan proving to find another thing he can beat people in... whatever the case may be if there's a million dollars on the line and a competition people will likely tune in.

Last Man On Every Roster ...Loser Leaves Town

This can be a game of Knockout, a free throw shooting competition, or just a straight up vote from the fans. Whatever the case. Bring in the last guy in the rotation of every team, and have some sort of live competition where the loser or the worst performance gets cut. It's a sick thing to watch, but guys fighting for their jobs will bring out chaos, and I would be here for it.

Give A Fan In Attendance A 30 Day Contract

What do you have to do if cut someone? Replace them. Pick a fan out of the stands via lottery tickets and they get the roster spot that just opened up. Soup to nuts. Full pay , uniform, on the team bench, go to practice with the team etc  for a month. Imagine some plumber in Utah telling his job he needs time off because he's now a Boston Celtic and he's gotta fly to Chicago on Monday for a road game? Imagine the footage of practice with Draymond Green when some school teacher doesn't call out a screen for him? Gold

$10 million Half Court Shot

Do it until you give the money away. It may take 3 days, or 30 days. But some random person or fan on all star weekend gets to hit a half court shot on live tv for 10 million. God knows the NBA has the money to spare ...
