'I Just Don't Think It's A Good Look' - Providence's AD Delivered A Great Rant Firing Shots At Georgetown For Hiring Ed Cooley

This might sound like Steve Napolillo is complaining, but you know what? Complain all you want. He has every right to after Cooley left and became the first coach in the history of the Big East to leave for another Big East school. I said it before but I want the Big East to hate each other. He might claim the conference is built on respect and dignity. I disagree. The conference was built on hate and basketball. Every single one of those schools hate each other. It's what makes the Big East special - there's true hate top to bottom in the conference (and then DePaul is there).

And this isn't a typical coaching move, even if Georgetown is the better job. Ed Cooley is a Providence guy. It's his hometown. Providence was his program. He left it for a conference rival. This isn't the old Big East where a guy leaves like South Florida for one of the big jobs. This is a guy leaving his city for somewhere else. Yes, he 'can leave' whenever he wants. But it's the fact he left for a conference rival. That doesn't happen in the Big East and really the sport. I can only think of three other examples - two in the SEC. Mike White left for George from Florida (where he was done anyways) and Tubby Smith left Georgia for Kentucky, because of course you do that. Then Chris Beard left Texas Tech for Texas.

Providence should be pissed.

Providence should be even more pissed when something like this is said too.

We're not talking about life-changing money. We're not talking about something that you can't say no to. Cooley could have left for another job if he really wanted out of Providence.

I know people will complain about the AD complaining, but I'd rather someone speak their mind like this. There's nothing wrong with him being pissed about how it played out. He lost his guy and knows his career is arguably on the line.

Need these two teams to play the first game next year at The Dunk. Bring tall boys back. Make that place fucking wild.
