Brooks Koepka, Whose Best Finish At A Major Last Year Was 55th, Goes To Florida Panthers Game To Call Aaron Ekblad A Traffic Cone

Brooks Koepka played an incredible stretch of golf from 2017-19. If we never saw him again on a golf course, I don't think anybody would really notice. Last year he missed the cut at The Masters after carding a couple of 75's, he missed the cut at The Open, he tied for 55th at Southern Hills, and then finished solo 55 at the US Open after going 75 and 77 on the weekend. Guy was a total traffic cone out there in the majors last season. Just standing in the way and getting passed by stallions like Scheffler and JT and Matt Fitzpatrick and Cam Smith.

You can blame injuries all you want. We all saw Brooks bitch and moan and whine about it on Full Swing. Guy looked like somebody killed his puppy that whole episode. Poor little Brooksie. Having to overcome the adversity of trying to find his game again after injuries have dismantled his body and he's been playing like complete and total shit lately. So bad that he jumped at the opportunity to get drastically overpaid by LIV because he didn't think he could compete against the best in the world anymore.

You'd think a guy like Brooks Koepka would see a little bit of himself in Aaron Ekblad. A former 1st overall draft pick who hasn't been able to play a full 82-game season since 2019 after injuries have decimated his body. A left leg fracture ended his 2021 season. Last year he suffered another leg injury that caused him to miss the end of the regular season, but was able to come back for the playoffs. He already spent time this season on LTIR after another lower body injury. Three seasons in a row, three lower body injuries.

A guy who looked like one of the most promising young talents early in his career now a shell of himself due to injuries. Sound familiar? Maybe Brooks was just projecting here with the "Ekblad you suck".

P.S. -- Incredible timing by the Panthers to score immediately after.
