Legend: Billie Joe Armstrong From Green Day Walked Into A London Pub, Heard A Band Covering Basket Case, And Jumped On Stage To Help Them Perform
I'm not a huge cover band guy. Mostly because if I wanted to hear a local dad belt the lyrics to AC/DC then I'll just go drink garage beers with my neighbor Greg until he's blacked out. I'd estimate that one out of every ten cover bands is worth actually hanging around and listening to. The rest are just groups of dudes trying to get nights away from their wives one Journey song at a time.
But every once in a while you do get a dope ass cover band playing dope ass songs and it makes the night. The only thing that could possibly be better than that would be if the band they were covering showed up and started singing along. Which is exactly what happened here.
This band is apparently called Borderline Toxic and they play their own stuff mostly but decided to rip a Green Day cover because even across the pond that shit gets the people going. They never dreamed that mid song Billie Joe Freaking Armstrong would jump on stage and help them with vocals.
I have to imagine as a band this is a top 10 moment no matter what happens with their careers from here on out. I mean just look how happy the lead singer is.
I listened to a few of their songs and it's not my cup of tea but they certainly aren't bad. If you're into London alt-rock you will probably love it. But even if I won't be adding their music to my playlist I can tell you that I was not mad that I watched a few of the videos.
To quote Drake, "She's a ten tryn to rap, that shit is good on mute."
