Skell Of The Week: The Government Official Who Drained 2 Million Liters Of Water From A Reservoir To Get His Cell Phone

AP NEWS- NEW DELHI  — A government official in India has been suspended from his job after he ordered a water reservoir to be drained so he could retrieve his smartphone, which he had dropped while taking a selfie.

Food inspector Rajesh Vishwas dropped his Samsung smartphone in Kherkatta dam in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh last week, The Times of India newspaper reported.

Vishwas first asked local divers to jump into the reservoir to find the device, claiming it contained sensitive government data. But after the initial efforts to retrieve his smartphone failed, he asked for the reservoir to be emptied using diesel pumps.

Over the next three days, more than 2 million liters of water were pumped out from the reservoir, which is enough to irrigate at least 1,500 acres of land during India’s scorching summer, local media reported.

It's only Wednesday but we already have our winner for Skell of the Week with this absolute dope.

First off, lying to divers to say the device contained sensitive government data is such a slimy move it's crazy. These poor saps are out loading up in their suits and gear and diving probably hundreds of feet down to try and find a cell phone that most certainly doesn't contain government data. The real story is the dope needed it back to play WORDLE with Jackie Tables.

Next, after the divers don't find it, he asks for the reservoir to be emptied. I put a little blame here on whoever the idiots were that took the order. Yes you have to respect your supervisor, but nobody raised an eyebrow they were just going to drain 2 million liters of water for a cell phone? "Maybe just say hey Mr.Supervisor … we sure this is a good idea?"

Also, the selfishness. That reservoir was enough to irrigate 1500 acres of water and it's the summer and this guy just says screw you I need my phone. Assssssshole.

Lastly, and the part that I knew was coming from the minute I opened the story was it was a complete waste of time.

The smartphone was eventually retrieved but wouldn’t even start because it was waterlogged.

This is the part that drives me the craziest… you have to be a complete idiot to think this phone was going to work. No chance on earth it was going to work, so what was the point of all this, just to have a non working phone ? Did he think he could claim it was damage on the phone and get some sort of rebate ? Moron. No chance this thing was going to work so he not only wasted his time, he wasted others and screwed over people all over the area. All time Skell.

PS-  I don't think the wet phone in the rice trick really works. I think it's a big myth.
