DirecTV Will Have The RedZone Channel This Season But It Will Be With Scott Hanson Instead Of Andrew Siciliano

PFT- The days of the dueling Red Zone channels are over, and now only the version hosted by Scott Hanson remains. DirecTV and NFL Media announced a new agreement today that will include NFL RedZone, hosted by Hanson, available to DirecTV subscribers.

Since 2005, DirecTV had produced its own version of Red Zone, hosted by Andrew Siciliano. Siciliano did great work on DirecTV’s Red Zone Channel, and it was the popularity of that version that led NFL Media to launch its own version with Hanson in 2009. But with DirecTV no longer carrying the NFL Sunday Ticket package, the original version hosted by Siciliano has fallen by the wayside.

Okay that seems a little cold for someone like Scotty Too Hottie, especially since this was how he signed off from his final broadcast of last season after Sunday Ticket moved to YouTube TV and everyone pretty much knew what was going to happen next.

Nonetheless, it's still weird to think about Hanson manning the desk during 6.5+ hours of pure chaos every given Sunday during the fall instead of Andrew Siciliano. It's almost like when we saw Vince McMahon showed up on Nitro after buying WCW.

To be honest, I started out as a Siciliano guy because I had DirecTV when RedZone launched and he was the one that delivered endless amounts of commercial free football into my eyeballs. But once I switched to YouTube TV, I instantly became a Hanson guy without fully even knowing why. Maybe it was the way he moved from game to game, his respect for the Witching Hour turning all of our worlds upside down, or him getting fired the fuck up to go to the Quad Box whenever he felt it was necessary. Regardless, I'd die and kill for that man because of what he does for me 18 Sundays a year.

I imagine there are people that feel the same way about Siciliano. Regardless of which guy you prefer, it just seems weird for viewers not have a choice, like a world without Pepsi for people that don't like Coke.
