Jared Goff Doesn't Give A Shit About His Critics
I feel like over the last 18 months, somebody has replaced Jared Goff for the better, more improved version. When the Lions acquired him, I just figured he’d have to eat shit for two years and then they move on. He had other plans. Goff has played very well for Detroit. We can speculate about the future all we want, but there’s no denying he has proven himself to be a good quarterback in the system. Not only has he played well, but his confidence has increased by 1 million percent. Last week after the Lions shit pump the Packers on Thursday night football, he threw Ryan Fitzpatrick’s “Poor man’s Matt Ryan” comments back in his face.
One of my biggest pet peeves is when fans say that a coach or player "represents the city. "I don't know what that means. It means being a hard worker, I guess. Is Detroit the only sports city with hard-working athletes? At the same time, I do think Jared Goff's story is starting to resonate with the fans of Detroit. All that matters is that he plays well. Still, there is something cool about being a former number one overall pick being traded and essentially declared damaged goods and then finding yourself as a top 10 quarterback.
Because of his very laid-back attitude, I've seen people criticize Jared Goff's leadership capabilities, but by all accounts, the entire locker room has his back. I love Brad Holmes and think that he’s done a marvelous job as the Lions GM, but I don’t think he could’ve predicted Goff would have the offense humming like this. But good things happen when you put the pieces in place to help a quarterback. The Lions have a solid offensive line and a lot of weapons for Jared Goff to play with. He’s thriving for a reason.
