Cristiano Ronaldo Facing 99 Lashes For Committing "Adultery" In Iran (He Hugged A Woman To Thank Her For A Painting)

Ronaldo could be staring down 99 lashes as punishment for adultery in the form of touching a woman while in a relationship.
Hamimi, who is reportedly 85 percent paralyzed and paints with her feet, was one of many fans who showered Ronaldo with gifts.
Ronaldo, who signed a 2 1/2 year deal with the Saudi Arabian club worth a reported $75 million per year, could be forgiven by a judge if “the acts are not punishable or Ronaldo shows remorse,” according to Marca.

Apparently, Ronaldo's Saudi club team had flown to Tehran for an Asian Champions League game when a paralyzed artist named Fatima Hamimi gifted him a couple paintings she made with her feet. Cristiano hugged and kissed her on the cheek to thank her and now he's staring down 99 lashes UNLESS:
1) The acts are not punishable
OR
2) Ronaldo shows remorse
Wow. So much for justice. Lotta leeway here, lotta leash. Ronaldo can just say he's sorry and he's off the hook? And here I was, thinking Iran had a rather harsh and punitive legal system.
Obviously, #1 seems pretty vague. What does that mean, not punishable? It's either adultery or it's not. I'm no Iranian legal scholar but my math shows: Ronaldo in a relationship + he touched another woman = adultery. Show me where I'm wrong? As soon as we start bending the rules for people because they've scored a lot of goals, we corrode the fabric of society. Nobody is above the law.
Jokes aside, 99 lashes is a lot of lashes. You get to 10, and then you have 89 more. I've never been lashed but I think I could handle 3-5 and then I'd just tell them to kill me. I wonder why they chose 99 instead of the round 100. Is that like when stores list an item as $4.99 because to us moron buyers, it looks more affordable than the full $5? Like don't worry Cristiano, you can get through it, it's not even 100 lashes.
For Ronaldo's sake, I hope the judge says the acts are not punishable. Might need to send him a fruit basket to put him in a good mood on judgement day.
