Dumping Them Out: Funniest Plays in Football

Welcome back to another episode of Dumping Them Out. This is going to include a lot of vidoes. Also a lot of Boob GIFs. I'm sorry if our website can't handle them and makes your computer go slow. But if you don't want to look at boobs on a shitty website then you shouldn't be on BarstoolSports.com in the first place.

Somebody asked me this question for a TikTok a couple months ago. I forget what I answered, but I remember it was a shitty answer, and I wished I had said something differently. These aren't in any particular order, they're just the first ones that come to mind. These are the funniest plays in football (off the top of my head let me know what I missed)

1. Big dramatic hurdle that gets you fucked up for a grand total of 3 extra yards.

Rarely is the juice worth the squeeze, but it sure looks sick

2. Trick play for a short gain

There's something extra hilarious about a meticulously drawn up play with 20 different moving parts in the backfield. Like some sort of Kansas City Chiefs ring-around-the-rosie double reverse flea flicker, then Mahomes hits the tight end on a 7 yard out. Like this play (it's not that extreme but you get the idea). It just seems extra insulting.

3. Completely failed trick play

Gets a laugh every time. The more devastating the better. Like the Colts that one time against the Patriots. If I remember correctly the whole thing was Pat McAfee's fault.

3. Tush Push

I have to include the Tush Push. Any play that the rest of the NFL cheating on is automatically hilarious.

4. Interception by a defensive back who carries the ball in the palm of his hand on the return.

I love when defenders get the ball and have no idea how to act. I also love a cocky player. There's nothing stupider or cockier than carrying the ball away from your body in the palm of your hand. You'd think a defense back who isn't used to carrying the ball would be extra careful with it. But nope, they're the most reckless. Bonus points if they do a swim move to avoid a tackler with the arm that's holding the ball. Just waving the ball all over the place

I'm having a hard time finding a specific example, so here's a compilation of Deion Sanders interception returns.

5 Quadruple doink field goal

I just came across this field goal while looking for funny plays and wanted to include it.

6. Quarterback getting hit 3 steps out of bounds

I love an egregious late hit. Just the biggest dickhead/least excusable play of all time. Late hits on the quarterback in general are hilarious. Here's a compilation.

7. Shotgun run on 4th and 1 that gets stuffed 3 yards behind the line

It's infuriating enough when your team has a 4th & 1 and lines up in the shotgun at all. Then when they hand the ball off… holy shit does that suck. But it's very funny to watch when you have no skin in the game. I just can't fathom how any coach in any level would think that's the best way to get 1 yard.

8. Fumblerooski

Rutgers did this against Ohio State yesterday and it ruled. Off a fake tush push too.

But whenever I think of fumblerooksi I think of NCAA Football video game where you could reply classic games, and one of them was the 1984 Orange Bowl between Nebraska & Miami. Nebraska did this fumblerooski and you had to replay it to win the challenge.

9. Letting Michael Strahan sack you to break a record

Hilarious way to break a record. On one hand, if I were Michael Strahan I'd be annoyed that I got the record that way, but on the other hand, the only reason I know Michael Strahan has that record is because Brett Favre did that and it's forever engrained into my head.

10. Last second fair catch that results in a review to see if the offense gets one more play

This went under the radar during MACtion earlier this week, but it's a play I'd never seen before. The punt returned called a last second fair catch at the buzzer. The refs had to review whether or not he fair caught the ball before time expired. I guess that doesn't seem that funny when I type it out, but it just seemed so perfectly MAC that I couldn't help but laugh.

11. Drop kick

I've only ever seen it happen one time, and that was when Doug Flutie did it as a joke at the end of his career. I have no idea why anyone would choose to do this, but it'd be hilarious if a quarterback was a drop kick assassin, so I team could go for it on 4th down, then if the throw isn't open could just pivot to a drop kick

12. Self safety

This one's obvious but it has to be included. Dan Orlovsky made a whole career off of it

13. The way overthrown corner fade into the endzone when it's 4th and goal from the 1

No play looks stupider than a wildly overthrown back shoulder fade along the goal line. This is a close cousin to the "defensive pass interference on every play when you're opponent is trying to throw the ball on the goal line because the ball can't get any closer to the endzone so you might as well just keep interfering forever." I can't find the video but I remember USC being in a game where this happened once.

14. Punt inside the opponents 40

This video isn't really even an example of this but I'd never seen it before and it made me laugh

15. 2 point conversion returned for a touchdown

Most dramatic 2 points in the game

I'm sure I'm missing a ton of good ones. Pound off in the comments.
