"Old Volk" Won The UFC 298 Presser Despite Ilia Topuria Trying To Do His Best McGregor Impression

UFC 298 goes down tomorrow night in Anaheim, California - kicking off an AMAZING 3 PPV run with 299/300 up next - and the main event between Alexander Volkanovski and Ilia Topuria has the whole MMA world talking.

Volkanovski is coming off the worst loss of his life, getting knocked out for the very first time in his UFC career by Lightweight Champion Islam Makhachev (less than four months ago), and Topuria is an up-and-coming 14-0 prospect who probably hits harder than anyone Volk has ever faced. Let these knockouts serve as "proof" of that power....

It's pretty scary. Because of that, many Volkanovski fans (myself included), are a little more worried about this fight than your average Volk title defense - where he is currently 6-0, and undefeated at Featherweight.

Ilia's got a ton of momentum behind him, he's turned into a full blown superstar in Europe, and he's had this swagger and confidence all week that gave off some real early McGregor vibes….

Unfortunately, though, he took those McGregor vibes too far last night - and became a full blown cosplayer….

(It takes one to know one)

Taking the belt and repeatedly calling himself the "Red Panty Night" (among his other horrible trash talk) was just embarrassing, especially while Volk just trolled the hell out of him with his "Old Volk" outfit/routine…

If you didn't see it, he did a whole "Old Volk" skit based on the narrative that he's over the hill a few weeks ago, and it was very funny….

This press conference was the first time all week that I actually took a deep breath as a Volk fan, seeing how calm he was and how seemingly rattled/erratic Topuria was. Costa was hilarious was well, playing into it and waking Volk up at one point….

Ian Garry was a big target of the crowd at the press conference, and flipped them the bird right back….

He's got the biggest test of his career tomorrow night in Geoff Neal, a guy who he recently mocked openly after his DUI….

….and this line from Neal about it during the face off was pretty cold.

I'm a Garry fan but I think Neal may upset him tomorrow. There's just something in the air. I can't wait for this card.
