Gawker - In an essay for DailyKos published on Thursday afternoon, King explained that he was told from a very young age that his biological father was a “light-skinned black man” with whom his mother had had an affair:

My mother is a senior citizen. I refuse to speak in detail about the nature of my mother’s past, or her sexual partners, and I am gravely embarrassed to even be saying this now, but I have been told for most of my life that the white man on my birth certificate is not my biological father and that my actual biological father is a light-skinned black man. My mother and I have discussed her affair. She was a young woman in a bad relationship and I have no judgment. This has been my lived reality for nearly 30 of my 35 years on earth. I am not ashamed of it, or of who I am—never that—but I was advised by my pastor nearly 20 years ago that this was not a mess of my doing and it was not my responsibility to fix it.

The saga of Shaun King and what color he is goes deeper and deeper. Now the latest is that his mom may have just banged a light skinned black dude and knocked her up. Which most certainly changes the equation. Now we’re in Mike Tirico territory. Tirico’s parents split up when he was 4 and his dad disappeared out of his life. And if I had to guess why, its probably because his mom popped out a half black kid. I mean theres no way to be sure but I think that could certainly be the cause for a that dude just completely disappearing from the picture.

So maybe thats what happened to Shaun King. A white mom and a light skinned black dude is basically 75% a white guy. Which is exactly what he looks like. But to be honest I dont even care what color he is. Green Jacket, Gold Jacket, who gives a shit? Guy has been a top notch black dude his whole life. If there’s one dude who’s earned the right to say “My mom banged a light skin black guy and thats where I came from so I’m technically I’m half black,” its Shaun King.
