The Trailer For Jerry Seinfeld's Directorial Debut Is Here And It's...Pop Tarts?

Kellogg's and Post Cereal compete to see if they can produce a revolutionary breakfast pastry in 1963 Michigan.

In addition to being his directorial debut, it also looks to be his live-action acting debut outside of Prison Man #2 in 1999's 'Pros and Cons'. (As a note, he is credited as himself for this wiki but that doesn't seem to be the case based on the trailer.)

This movie is his passion project and he's been talking about it for ages. He's mentioning it on talk shows before and even tweeted it as early as 2018.

So if this concept is interesting enough not only to get Seinfeld interested but also the extremely talented cast and crew, I'm in. The vibe of the actual trailer was kind of hard to nail down. It reminds me a little of recent movies like 'Flamin' Hot' & 'Weird: The Al Yankovic Story' with a heavier lean towards the latter. Basically few kernels of truth that are covered with over-the-top ridiculousness. Like the Weird Al movie, I imagine this will have a 50/50 hit rate on bits that depends heavily on the actor in the given scene. For example, I am very excited to see Bill Burr as JFK but not so much to see Amy Schumer do anything at all.

That said, it's still Jerry and he has the benefit of the doubt no matter what. Besides directing and starring in the movie, he also wrote it alongside Seinfeld writers Spike Feresten & Andy Robin as well as comedian and 'Bee Movie' writer Barry Marder.

This comes to Netflix May 3rd.
