UFC 300 Is A MUST WATCH Card From Start-To-Finish
Author's Note: This was supposed to publish about an hour ago but never did because of shitty hotel wifi. Everything still applies as the card just began.
I'm about to head off to T-Mobile Arena for the start of UFC 300 prelims, so I'll have to make this quick, but I just wanted to point out to all who may be unaware that this is a MUST WATCH historic card that you're not going to want to miss.
There are 12 current/former world champions fighting tonight....
….and Cody Garbrandt/Deiveson Figueiredo, two of those former world champions, will actually kick the action off! They're the very first fight on the early prelims! I think Figgy's gonna take Cody's head off early in that fight, too - so make sure you're tuned in (or in your seat, if you'll be there) as early as possible.
Author's Note #2: Figgy did not, in fact, take Garbrandt's head off. He simply choked him out.
There's tons of great storylines on top of that, from Jim Miller completing the trilogy and fighting at UFC 100, 200, and now 300 - to Kayla Harrison's UFC debut against Holly Holm (a monumental fight for women's mixed martial arts)….
….to Aljamain Sterling moving up to Featherweight to take on the New England Cartel's Calvin Kattar, to Bo Nickal facing his biggest challenge yet on the grandest stage possible, to Charles Oliveira fighting as an underdog yet again, to the BMF Title fight and beyond - this is the greatest card the UFC has ever put together on paper. And I know the main event doesn't feature star power to the level of a Conor McGregor, or a Jon Jones, or even an Israel Adesanya - but it is a TREMENDOUS fight that pretty much guarantees fireworks to cap the card off. Poaton and Jamahal Hill are gonna stand and trade until one of them drops for sure.
Personally, nothing would make me happier than a big Max Holloway win tonight - but I won't lie, I do worry about Gaethje running the Poirier playbook against him and dominating at the bigger weight class. We'll see tho. That's why we watch the fights.
I'll be blogging the finishes/biggest moments from the card all night, so make sure to follow along here; and if you can, watch the show tonight! I think it has the potential to be really special and create a bunch of new fans of the sport. This is basically a showcase of how great mixed martial arts can be. Hopefully the arena recognizes that and fills in early as well.
Again, if you missed it, here is our breakdown of the whole card on the Spinnin Backfist MMA Show….
