Joe Mazzulla's 'Alpha Male Challenge' Has Raised The Bar On What It Means To Be Gritty

On today's Pardon My Take... JOE MAZZULLA! The Head Coach of the Boston Celtics joined Mr. Cat and Mr. Commenter on today's show to discuss the Celtics, getting choked out, the "Alpha Male Challenge" with his dad, the Town, his scouting reports on Quizlet, and tons more.

You may have read that first paragraph and thought, "Alpha Male Challenge? What on Earth could that mean?" Well, You no longer have to wait to find out. Coach Mazzulla gave us the details on what this event he participated in with his dad while growing up was, and it is nothing short of spectacular. Take a look...

TWO MEN ENTER, ONE MAN LEAVES! TWO MEN ENTER, ONE MAN LEAVES! The visualization of your father locking that fence and flat out saying, "the winner walks out of here alive" is both hilarious and terrifying at the same time. In the moment, Coach Mazzulla was probably feeling the latter once that fence was locked (I know I would be).

But looking back, as he said, it taught him great lessons about toughness and perseverance. In fact, Coach Mazzulla credited the "Alpha Male Challenge" for being a key role in shaping his identity today.

No matter what team you root for, you can't listen to this interview and not become an instant fan of Joe Mazzulla. He seems like an incredible coach to play for, and more importantly, an awesome guy to hang around.

The Boston Celtics are the favorites to win the NBA Finals, and even if you aren't going to root for them, Coach Mazzulla would be a more than deserving champion. Great, great interview on today's show.
