The Hockey News -- While his teammates are on the ice competing for the ultimate prize in the OHL, Landon Sim of the London Knights is on the sidelines with a five-game suspension that has raised its fair share of questions.

…According to Sim’s agent, Andrew Maloney, Sim made contact with a Spirit forward during the pre-game warm-up. Then, midway through the second period, the agent alleged a defenseman on the Spirit confronted Sim at a faceoff and threatened to “break (his) shoulder.” According to Maloney, Sim has a shoulder sprain and has been freezing it before games.

Sim allegedly replied, “No you won’t; you’re too much of a p---y to do that.” At that point, the defenseman called over referee Joe Monette and told him what Sim had said. Monette then conferred with one of the linesmen, who confirmed what Sim had said and then gave Sim a game misconduct for unsportsmanlike conduct. The next day, the OHL suspended Sim five games for contravening the league’s diversity, maltreatment and bullying policy and its pre-game warm-up policy.

Okay so before we even get started here on what a shit show the OHL has turned into, let's talk about what a pigeon this Saginaw defenseman is. Buddy gets called a pussy during warmups and immediately runs to tell the ref. There's all the confirmation that you need right there.

But holy shit, what in the actual world is going on up in Ontario? There was a time when you'd have to commit manslaughter on the ice in order to catch a 3-game suspension at most. Hockey used to be a fast, physical, violent game. People were too busy trying to bash each other's brain into a pulp to be considered about any words being exchanged on the ice. Calling someone a pussy on the ice is as casual as waving hello to a neighbor. It's easily one of the least heinous things you'll hear throughout the entirety of a hockey game.

So to turn around and hit this kid with a 5-game sussy? With no hearing or no way to appeal the suspension? What a joke. What an absolute joke. It's stunning how clueless everyone involved with that decision has to be. I don't even think this has anything to do with the people in charge going on a power trip. I think they're just legitimately that dumb, clueless, and overridden with brain rot.

I just can't imagine being a top prospect and wanting to spend anymore time in Canada than you need to. Just come to America, play a couple of seasons of college hockey, burn a year off of your ELC by signing your contract after the college season wraps up, and you don't have to deal with any of that nonsense anymore. Or you could stay in Canada and risk getting suspended for life if you call someone a baby back bitch on the ice during warmups.

Sidenote: Luckily the London Knights were able to stick it to the OHL by winning the J. Ross Robertson Cup last night.

Surprised the OHL didn't try to take it away from them because they won by too many goals and hurt Oshawa's feelings.
