We Are One Win Away From a Stanley Cup Residing in Broward County Florida

My brain still can’t process that we’re one win away from the Stanley Cup residing in Broward County, Florida. What people don’t understand is that the Panthers have always been Broward's team. If you’re from Broward, you know exactly what I’m talking about. If you’re not, allow me to explain.

Growing up in Broward is both a blessing and a curse. You have limitless opportunities—nightclubs, bars, and of course, drugs. But what you don’t have easy access to is seeing your favorite teams play. The Heat are an hour's drive away on a good day with traffic, and the Dolphins are a solid 45-minute drive. The Panthers, on the other hand, are a 15-minute drive away. Good or bad, the Cats have been Broward’s backyard heroes forever.

Anytime we needed something to do on a random Tuesday or Thursday night, the Cats gave us alcohol specials that would have you speaking Chinese by the end of the first period. Need a date night that won’t break your wallet but will get you laid? They got you. People will sit here and tell you that South Florida doesn’t care about hockey, and that’s probably true. But Broward County loves hockey.

I’ll be the first to admit I don’t watch every Panthers game. I’m not ashamed to admit that. 90% of the country doesn’t follow their favorite hockey team game by game. It’s only a problem when your team is winning. The Cats are more than just a hockey team—they’re a representation of the county that we grew up in. So, yes, we will get loud and fired up for every win. We don’t need your stamp of approval to support the team we all grew up loving.
