Shaq AKA "DJ Diesel" Performed A Concert After The Guardians Game And Was Talking World Series In Cleveland
I'll be honest I really don't understand how this came about. Seeing Shaq perform a concert, during daylight, out by 2nd base of Progressive Field to a rather small crowd for such a large setting might be the most random thing I've ever seen on my timeline. But apparently the way this story goes is that Shaquille O'Neal goes by DJ Diesel and is on tour right now, with his latest stop being in Cleveland after the Guardians game yesterday. A game that, in case you missed it and if this story is to be told in totality, the Guardians won.
Quick little aside: it's a damn shame it's only June and you guys told me back in April that I'm not allowed to talk about making the playoffs until at least August, maybe September. But if I were to talk about it, I'd say the Guardians are now 48-26 on the year, sitting atop the best division in baseball by 7.5 games, looking at odds of making the postseason at -1400. Looking forward to August though!
Anyways, so in the midst of calling Tristan McKenzie up onto the stage to sing Kelly Clarkson's "Since You Been Gone", Shaq dropped this like promise on the crowd:
Now I'm not one to believe promises by professional athletes in Cleveland anymore, but I do like that the Guardians are finally getting some recognition. Still +1300 to win the World Series when they have the 3rd best record in all of baseball and should be adding an Arm before the deadline, but it's nice to have Shaq on the bandwagon. We're still accepting applications as well, although there will be a closing date.
* I still can't get over why Shaq would be doing this in Cleveland with the Guardians. He must truly be doing it for the love of DJing, as he doesn't need money and it doesn't look like he's getting much fame from it. But it does look like the team had fun?
You can catch DJ Diesel in Lincoln, Nebraska next weekend if you're interested!
