Congratulations To The Celtics' Jrue Holiday On Being This Year's Winner Of The Tenacious D MVP Award

Boston Herald - The celebratory accolades keep on coming for the Celtics.

Jrue Holiday has long been looked at as one of the best defenders in the NBA, and his tenacity locking down Mavericks’ superstars Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving in the Finals caught the eye of Tenacious D.

Jack Black and Kyle Gass selected Holiday as the winner of their second annual “Tenacious D MVP Award,” the duo announced in an eclectic social media post Tuesday.

Anthony Davis of the Lakers received the award last year, being the “most tenacious defender” in the league.

Not only did Holiday provide one of the most effective offensive performances in Finals history, his defensive efforts proved to be the difference in the Celtics winning Banner 18, at least in the eyes of Black and Gass.

“For years, the Celtics have been knocking on the door, trying to win that championship, not quite being able to get there,” Black said in a video. “But this year, there was something different. I wonder what changed this year? I wonder why they were victorious this year?”

“Jrue Holiday,” Black and Gass said simultaneously. “The best of the best,” Black added. “The cream of the crop.”

Holiday was named the winner of this prestigious award after the Celtics almost swept the Mavs last month, but he was just able to actually receive the hardware this weekend. And some fine hardware that is.

Like Holiday said himself, just look at the shaft on that thing.

And it was hand-delivered by the most ferocious rock duo in the world, Jack Black and Kyle Glass, aka Tenacious D.

It really goes without saying, but the job Ainge and Stevens did assembling this team over the past few seasons, shifting puzzle pieces around to eventually culminate in this years Championship, powerhouse squad is remarkable. Landing a perennial all star, all defensive team lock down stud like Holiday, (especially when guys like him are a rarity in today's game) is crazy. It sucks they had to give up my guy Robert Williams to the Blazers to do so, but the proof is in the pudding. Anytime the Celtics were in need of a crucial play, Holiday was there in the mix. On both ends of the floor.

p.s. - Jack Black is fucking awesome. If you disagree you've got a giant dump in your pants. Him inviting himself to go down Holiday's pool slide and then hit some cannonballs in his pool was laugh out loud funny.

p.p.s. - School Of Rock is criminally underrated. All time feel-good comedy.
