Alex Golesh, The Undisputed Best College Football Coach In The Country, Says "Bama and Miami Gotta Play South Florida" This Year
First of all, before anyone down in Tuscaloosa wants to get smart (for the first time in their life) in the comment section, let's be clear about one thing: Alex Golesh is correct. Alabama and Miami do have to play South Florida this year. Fact check that one and let me know where he was wrong. And while you're at it, fact check the last time MY coach made a statement to the National Media that made waves like this.
That was after my Bulls took time out of their busy schedule of completely turning around a program that hadn't won an FBS game since 2021 to go kick the shit out of Syracuse in a bowl game by a mere score of 45-0. Left their homes in sunny, beautiful, vacation destination / college campus Tampa, Florida to head over to the gross, desolate wasteland of Boca Raton and dispose of a "Power 5" team with the entire nation watching. Sports Illustrated gave Deion Sanders their "Man of the Year" award because he went 4-8 with two Top 10 draft picks on his team. What are we giving Golesh for taking over a worse roster and winning a Bowl Game in his first year? The Nobel Peace Prize?
The fact of the matter is that Alex Golesh doesn't scratch his head unless it itches and he doesn't dance unless he hears music. He wouldn't be giving Kalen DeBoer and Mario Cristobal some Grade A bulletin board material unless he had an Ace up his sleeve that he knew they couldn't stop. Good news for him (and bad news for the rest of the AAC) is that he does.
Here's a stat for you: the only two quarterbacks in college football last year to throw for 3,000 yards and run for 700+ more were Jayden Daniels and Byrum Brown. One won the Heisman and the other.....wasn't even on the All-AAC Honorable Mention list? People keep saying South Sudan beating Team USA in the Olympic exhibition woud've been the most embarrassing moment in American sports history, but they must've not seen Preston Stone be named to the All-AAC 3rd Team last year. And the disrespect / embarrsament has continued into this season where the crooked, fake-news media just released their preseason team poll.
Memphis, fine. UTSA, I guess. Tulane, probably not. But who the fuck voted for ARMY to win it all? If it's anyone other than the Commander-In-Chief himself then I want their media credentials revoked immediately. Let me say this: if Army wins the AAC this year I will quit my job at Barstool and enlist in the military. Boot camp and all. The fact of the matter is that this conference is officially serious business, seeing as the winner will be going to the College Football Playoff, and the media needs to start treating it that way. No more legacy awards to make the older players and coaches feel warm and fuzzy inside. And no more candy ass ideas like the one I saw the new commissioner toying with. An NIL Salary Cap? Buddy if you want USF, Tulane, and Memphis to go to a bigger conference just say so. But if you want us to stay, promote your prized bulls and make everyone rise to the competition instead of sinking to the level of a doormat.
Anyways, I think you can see where this one is going. I'm officially coming out with this blog. No, not as an FAU Fan gay, but as a South Florida Bull. Ohio State is still #1, but I'm officially conducting the USF Hype Train this year due to my uhh, vested interest in the program. And the good news for everyone is that we're still accepting any and all riders up through September 20th. Because once we beat Miami on the 21st, it's a closed door, VIP only type of train. Get on now or we're leaving you at the station.
