Tennis Legend Andy Murray Loses In Doubles At The Olympics And Officially Retires From The Sport, Concluding An Incredible Career Full Of Endless Fight

Earlier today Andy Murray called it a career and retired from the game of tennis as his doubles team with compatriot Dan Evans fell to Americans Tommy Paul and Taylor Fritz in the quarters of the Olympics (Go USA Go). This was the known end for Murray, going out representing the country he loves so much. He put a bow on it with this hilarious tweet. While he was always this lunatic on the court, he showed a great personality off of it. By all accounts a world class fella if you got to know him.
He wasn't the best tennis player by any means, but that bastard gave every ounce of will and fight to the game since turning pro in 2005. Fitting that him and Evans kept pulling matches out of their ass before losing today. It's well understood that without Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic he'd have won 10+ slams. Instead Murray had to settle for three (two Wimbledons and a US Open). Probably a top 10 player in the sport, but just so happened to play in an era with the three best of all time. Brutal luck.
Andy Murray loved to suffer and once he roped you into his suffering is when he took full advantage. When he had you in a four+ hour marathon where it looked like he was about to roll over and die at the next gust of wind, somehow he turn the match on its head and come out the winner. Relent for just a minute when it mattered and he jumped all over you. He constantly showed some of the best endurance and fight in the history of tennis.
Murray finally climbing the mountain and winning Wimbledon was a big fucking deal back in 2013. When Djokovic's back hand down the line found the net it was pure euphoria for the Brit and everyone in the country.
He gave everyone on the tour hell for practically two decades. Multiple hip surgeries, a ton of tears, and endless fight. Andy Murray retires a tennis legend. One of the game's greatest competitors.
P.S. Andy's wife Kim Sears will always be a top tier ride or die girl in sports history. What a woman
