App State Player Goes Myles Garrett Mode, Hits Teammate with Helmet

911 we've got helmet to head contact in App State!

You always hear coaches talking about watching what you do on the field because the next generation is watching, and it’s safe to say the coaches were right again. This one is dedicated to Aaron Donald and Myles Garrett, the OGs of the good old "hit a dude who's not wearing a helmet in the face with your helmet." It’s one of those things you hate to see but can eventually laugh at as long as no one gets hurt.

Now that we have three contestants, I feel obligated to power rank them.

Although Donald’s hit had the most impact (I mean, you could hear that thing all the way from Florida to Japan), it was in the middle of a team brawl, so for all we know, he could have been spraying and praying like Coach Duggs on a blind play. Nevertheless, it was a solid swing.

    2. App State

If this had happened during a game and not in practice, it would be my clear-cut number one. If there were an art to hitting someone in the head with a helmet, this would be the sequence taught in schools across America: create distance with the off hand, rip the player's helmet right off his head, load up with maximum power, and swing across the face. Absolutely textbook stuff right there.

    1. Myles Garrett

You just had to be there. Seeing this unfold in real time was hilarious. Mason Rudolph's reaction to getting hit in the face with a helmet was second to none. I’ve got to give it to Mason—most people's instant reaction would be to feel the part of their head that just got smacked by a helmet, but instead, he went looking for a flag. You’ve got to respect it. But the fact that Myles pulled this off on national TV makes this the clear-cut number one.
