Jameis Winston Should Win An Oscar For This 3 Minute And 15 Second Video Of Him Being Mic'd Up For The Preseason Game
Sometimes when I bow my head at night and thank God for all he has blessed me with, I skim right over my health and my family and my job because I need to spend the rest of the prayer on Jameis Winston. How lucky am I that my Cleveland Browns signed him to be their backup quarterback? Some people struggle to get two blogs a week at this company, but Jameis is going to damn near give me two blogs a day just from holding the clipboard on Sundays. I mean, this 3 minute and 15 second video alone is more content than half of the NFL will get from their starters this season.
I know it's just a preseason game but he's already out here giving Hall of Fame worthy speeches. When he hit the team with the declaration that he was about to spell out the word Browns for them, I thought to myself, no fucking way you do that Jameis!

But he did! He fucking did it! B-R-O-W-N-S just like a youth football cheerleading squad would do.

And they responded to him!!! "LETS GET ITTTTTTT!" But it's not just the pregame speeches, he's the ultimate teammate the entire game. Talking about opportunity, congratulating new players on making it, and staying positive at all times. Jameis Winston seems to be the fucking man to play with.
Now I must admit, I do have two serious questions / concerns for you all regarding this. We're in the Trust Tree here, right? They are as follows:
1. Do the players think Jameis is corny? Listen I'm laughing as much as the next guy is watching this video, but at what point do these grown as men, who are playing football for the money / livelihoods of their families, stop laughing about a dude that "eats Ws"? Don't get me wrong, he's a content machine, but I'm just a fan. Maybe I'm wrong here but these speeches might not hit the same to the rest of the team when we're 3-4, coming off a tough loss to the Bengals, with a must win game against the Ravens coming up. Maybe it will, but I could also see a world where Myles Garrett tells the backups to shut the fuck up so the team can focus more on stopping Lamar Jackson than laughing and smiling in the pregame. Or maybe they love him so much that this is our culture now. Which brings me to my next question…..
2. What happens when your backup QB is more likable than your starter? In all seriousness, can Jameis continue to give pregame speeches when he's the backup? Is that a thing in the NFL? Deshaun is supposed to be the leader of our team but it appears that Jameis might be the leader of our locker room. That is #NotGood. It'd be one thing if the jokester of our team was a rookie QB that had no chance of getting put into the game, but Jameis Winston has 34 career wins in the NFL as a starter. If Deshaun continues to be the Deshaun we've seen in Cleveland, and not the one we traded for, then I could see a world where the fan base would start calling for a competent backup. I mean, we were better with Joe Flacco last year.
But for now, I'm going to pretend that neither of those are issues. I'm going to believe that Deshaun is the leader, he'll be great, Jameis will keep the locker room light, and everyone loves him…..until I have a reason to think otherwise.
