Petty Wars: Tennis Player Bernard Tomic Wears a "Disguise" At Finals Match To Heckle A Player Who Beat Him a Few Rounds Earlier In The Tournament
Bernard Tomic hates a lot of things in the world, with tennis and the players on the tour right at the top. Funny enough, he's a professional tennis player. I genuinely don't know why this dude is still playing the sport to the point when his name pops up in headlines I'm genuinely stunned. Once ranked 17th in the world, Bernie is currently 238th and hasn't had a positive moment on tour in years. The latest? Tomic is down the in the Dominican Republic playing a challenger event (basically the minor leagues of tennis). He lost to Andres Andrade in the quarters and ended up getting into a bit of a spat with him. Seems like this all dates back to their match in 2022. We love a good grudge.
After Tomic's quarterfinal loss last week he refused to shake Andrade's hand. That prompted Andrade to say, "I may not be a great tennis player, but what I am not is a bad person and a bad loser." Naturally Tomic showed up at his final a few days later and put on a disguise (sunglasses) to heckle the shit out of him.
10/10 move. Actually hilarious considering his version of a master disguise was to throw on sunglasses and a hat. Who could possibly identify this man? Channeling his inner Johnny Manziel in Vegas or Bobby Valentine.
Tomic was promptly kicked off the premises.
We need more of this plain and simple. Showing up to another player's match to heckle them is top tier trolling. That's just good ol' fun. Stop being so buddy-buddy with everyone and let out that hate in your heart. Losing at a challenger and staying a couple extra days just to fuck with an opponent is good stuff.
