The Browns Quietly Removed Suspension Protection From Deshaun Watson's Contract When They Restructured This Summer

Look I do want to be transparent that I'm blogging this during halftime of the Sunday NFL Stream from the cave in Chicago. If I would've blogged this two hours ago, I'd probably have a substantially different tone. But I think the readers of this blog should know that my brain is fresh off watching Deshaun lead the Browns right down the field on their first drive and punching it in himself.

And he's now 11 for 15 (with a huge, horrible drop by Amari) for 108 yards. He literally looks like a different human being than he was last Sunday vs the Cowboys, and we're still down both of our Tackles....and this week we're without our Tight End. But he looks good?

Anyways, the point of this blog is that the Browns lawyers / front office pulled off a great move in their restructuring of Deshaun's contract this August when they removed the language that protected him from future suspensions due to his allegations. And now 1 week into the season, with another allegation emerging in the national media, the question is whether that claim gets substantiated and if the Browns will look to get their money back / move on from Watson with less of a financial liability. And it appears they may have a chance....

Not the graphic you want to see as a Cleveland fan! But maybe it is at this point? Maybe we want to get out of the Deshaun business and move on. But again, two hours ago, after what we saw vs. Dallas last week, I'd have said pull the contract now!!!! But now, after two quarters in Jacksonville, I'm saying hold off and let the legal system play out here. I mean, is it possible the Cowboys were simply an all-time great and the Browns really aren't that bad? Well, the Saints being up 35-13 in Dallas right now at the half doesn't help that narrative, but maybe the Saints are a wagon too? Either way, it's nice to know we can possibly have an exit plan if needed. Credit to the Browns lawyers. What the fuck were Deshauns thinking??
