Welcome To Montreal: Mackenzie Hughes Got The Presidents Cup Started By Chugging A Beer On The First Tee To Fire Up The Crowd

You know what? This is fitting. This is how the Presidents Cup should start off in Montreal. A Canadian on the first tee chugging a beer. This event is supposed to be different. It's not supposed to be as stuffy, it's not supposed to feel 'normal.' You want the fans involved and chanting and singing, well, you're in Montreal. You don't do that by waving your arms all around, no you get on a knee and chug a beer. Anyone who has been to Montreal knows you're there to party the majority of the time. It's not like Hughes is playing today, what do you expect him to do? This is how he contributes to the International Team, every team needs a vibes guy and someone to get the crowd going. Hughes is taking that serious.

The Presidents Cup needs to be close this year. I mean I don't want it to be, but from a competitive standpoint it needs to be. We own this event. We simply don't lose this event and typically win easily. If you're on the International Team you gotta do whatever it takes to flip the script and get some good juju going. They have 3 Canadians on the roster with Mike Weir as the captain. Whenever they aren't playing, they need to chug beers on the tee box to get the crowd going. We've seen it at the Ryder Cup. Fans play an important role in these events. No one is saying be an asshole or cross a line, but you need home course advantage even more than changing the course to help you out.

Here's today's schedule for those that want to follow along:
