Forecaster Frank NFL Week 5 Picks: Belly Up
Thursday Night
- Atl -1.5 (o/u 44)
- Falcons 20 Buccaneers 17
With a play here and there, the Falcons could be 4-0. Their defense has been solid through four games. The Buccaneers have also played well, and Baker Mayfield has been terrific. This could be a good game, and I think Atlanta wins with the home-field edge as Falcons fans can enjoy stadium Chick-fil-A without a Sunday sadness.
London Sunday Morning
- NYJ +2.5 (o/u 40.5)
- Jets 24 Vikings 20
The Jets are coming off a frustrating loss against the Broncos at home in the rain. The Vikings, with Sam Darnold looking like an MVP, are 4-0. Eventually, the Vikings will level off. The Jets, with Aaron Rodgers feeling regal and experienced at beating the Vikings with his best game of the season.
Sunday at 1
- Chi -4 (o/u 42)
- Bears 27 Panthers 17
Two teams connected with a franchise-defining trade. The deal has been a disaster for the Panthers as Bryce Young now sits on the bench, while Caleb Williams is coming off a strong performance in Week 4. This one will hurt Carolina fans.
- Bal -2.5 (o/u 50.5)
- Ravens 31 Bengals 20
The Bengals looked shaky in their first win last week against the Panthers. So far, it has been a season of frustration for Cincinnati, as it has been especially bad at home. With Derek Henry finding his groove, the Ravens will run away with this one.
- Buf -1 (o/u 47.5)
- Bills 30 Texans 17
With how things ended for Steffon Diggs in Buffalo, I expect to see a motivated Josh Allen. Look for a Buffalo stamped as Allen and the Bills roll through the Texans.
- Jax -3 (o/u 46)
- Jaguars 23 Colts 17
With Anthony Richardson banged up, the Colts' quarterback situation is fluid. The Jaguars, at 0-4, are in crisis mode. They have lost nine of ten since last season. The Colts have not won in Jacksonville since 2014. This is when they can get back in the win column.
- NE -1 (o/u 36.5)
- Patriots 31 Dolphins 0
If they could score negative points, the Dolphins would be below zero. The offense is a disaster, the GM thinks that offensive lines are nothing to worry about. They have become the meme as Tyreek Hill is the Lamborgini parked next to a shack. The Miami disaster continues.
Sunday Late Game
- LV +2.5 (o/u 36)
- Raiders 20 Broncos 17
Two teams are a mixed bag and can look different week to week. After two wins on the road, look for Bo Nix and the Broncos to struggle against the Raiders' aggressive defense.
- SF -7 (o/u 49.5)
- 49ers 27 Cardinals 17
The 49ers appear to have found their game last week. The Cardinals, meanwhile, have problems on defense. This is not a great combination. Look for an easy Niners win.
- GB -3 (o/u 48.5)
- Packers 29 Rams 13
Jordan Love returned and almost led a comeback against the Vikings. I expect a strong game from Love, as the Rams could be quickly fading out of the playoff chase.
- NYG +6.5 (o/u 43.5)
- Seahawks 20 Giants 16
The Seahawks are poised to bounce back with a win, but the spread is high. The Giants are not capable of winning, but they can keep it somewhat close.
Sunday Night
- Dal +2.5 (o/u 44)
- Cowboys 23 Steelers 20
A classic rivalry is renewed on Sunday night as the Cowboys, coming off a win on Thursday night, head to Pittsburgh. The Steelers are looking to bounce back after their first loss and tend to lose in pairs. This feels like a win for Dallas, which always wins on Sunday nights in October.
Monday Night
- KC -5.5 (o/u 43.5)
- Chiefs 20 Saints 17
The Chiefs may be 4-0, but they have had trouble covering point spreads. The Saints have lost their last two after flying out of the gate. It will be a close game and the Chiefs will win with a late field goal.
