The Umpire In The Guardians / Tigers Game Had A "Correct Call Rate" In The Bottom 2% Of All Baseball Games This Season
Let me be very clear: I am not making an excuse as to why the Guardians lost. I am not the Tigers 3rd basemen Zach McKinstry, who quite literally said the reason Detroit lost Game 1 (7-0) is because the Cleveland grounds crew only watered the infield once, not twice, before the game. His words, not mine.
No, making excuses is not what I'm doing it all. In fact, I'll just go out and say it: when you score 0 runs over 9 innings, there are no excuses as to why you lost. There are reasons why you lost, and those reasons can be found if you simply look in the mirror. So again, Detroit won the game fair and square yesterday. Cleveland needs to be able to score runs when they get runners in scoring position with less than two outs, and instead, we just decided to hit into double plays in those situations. But regardless of all of that, that doesn't excuse what the FUCK the home plate umpire was doing behind the dish yesterday.
Here's how the game ended:
Blue have a reservation at the Harry Buffalo or what? Again, we're not scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th after Clase allowed Kerry Bonds to put one in Lake Erie, but what's this umpire's fucking eye sight? Watch that video posted above again. Look at this frame job that a 11u coach would yell at his catcher for jerking his arm too much in a helpless way that the umpire will despise.

And how are we supposed hit Skubal in the first place, let alone if Blue is given him shoulders to toes and 6 inches off the plate?

The guy is good and doesn't need any extra help. Anyways, not complaining, just frustrated that we're on the biggest stage of the baseball world and we can't get a dude that can see straight. Bottom 2% of games all year in our most important game of the year? MLB needs to be better.
