The New Aaron Hernandez Show Is So Bad That It's Actually Good
I haven’t watched the new FX Aaron Hernandez show, and I don’t have any plans to. But I have seen the clips circulating online, and they are going triple platinum for all the wrong reasons. The acting, the portrayal of players, and the coaches are so hilariously bad that it’s become unintentionally entertaining.
What was supposed to be a serious take on one of the most shocking stories in American sports has basically turned into a parody. It’s like watching an SNL skit—if SNL decided to tackle crime dramas. The show is so fucking ass that it’s actually succeeding in a completely different genre. Every scene looks overacted, like they’re trying to make you laugh instead of making you think.
They set out to make a gripping sports crime documentary, but it’s ended up being PFT's new personal favorite sitcom. It’s hard to believe that something meant to be intense and thought-provoking has become the latest meme generator. It’s not often a show can bomb in its original intention yet still get people talking. Whether it’s the cringe-worthy dialogue or the ridiculous over-the-top performances, it’s definitely getting attention. So, maybe they accidentally made a hit—just not in the way they expected.
