Rivalry Never Dies: Texas Players Planted A Flag On Baker Mayfield's Oklahoma Jersey At Midfield After Winning The Red River Shootout

Why Baker Mayfield? Who knows, who cares. I mean, yeah, he went to OU, spoke a lot of shit and is probably synonymous with planting flags at midfield after wins. But, I still don't know why you wouldn't get someone else's jersey. It's the NIL era, you can buy a Danny Stutsman jersey or go with someone more recent. Either way, this is part of the reason why the Red River Shootout is perfect. It's one of those rivalries and games that go beyond the time or year or record of the teams. You see the Cotton Bowl, you see the Texas State Fair and the fans split 50/50. It's everything that makes college football elite. 

Don't get me wrong, there's not a soul on Earth, besides those who wear Oklahoma red, who should be pissed at this. You win a rivalry and you should be able to do shit like this. I love the golden hat, I love the craziness of it all. People can complain about NIL and conference realignment and fine, whatever, each their own. Just give me rivalries that matter, built on hatred, I just picture Baker Mayfield sitting at home watching this and doing the Sas meme.
