Whoops! Mike Tomlin Wanted To Keep The Starting QB Decision 'In House', George Pickens Immediately Blurts Out It's Russell Wilson's 'First Start'

So earlier this week we had the Steelers basically open up the starting QB spot now that Russ is healthy enough to play. Russ Wilson vs Justin Fields. Everyone assumed this likely meant it would just be Russ Wilson. Either way, it was a competition and today Mike Tomlin said he wanted to keep the decision in-house. Proof of that here:

You can see the time that was tweeted out. 1:06pm. Let's go to the same reporter and at 1:36pm:

Whoops! Just blurting out that it's Russell Wilson's first start. Now, you could make a case that George Pickens is just stirring up shit. I choose not to believe that they are creative enough to do that. It's still the Steelers, their whole brand is being boring. This is just George Pickens randomly saying what's on his mind. Tough to blame him, he's answering the question, maybe a little too much honesty. But nonetheless hilarious considering it's the Steelers and George Pickens.

Does it matter in the long run? Probably not, I assume the Jets were planning on playing against Russ. But it's for sure two different types of plans with Fields ability to run. This is where Tomlin needs to switch it up and play it smart. Send both of them out there for the first snap. Get creative with it. Keep everyone on their toes, line them both up in the backfield and have someone else take the snap. Problem solved.
