The Jets Need To Blow Everything Up And Start Over...Yet Again

It was finished before it started. The Aaron Rodgers Era is right there with Joker 2 and The Magic Hour as widely overhyped disasters that should never have happened. This is actually even worse. Warner Bros. lost a shit ton of money with Joker 2 but it's not like it's going to hold the entire studio back for the next 3-5 years. They'll just make more movies.

The Jets now have to rip everything down to the studs and start over. Yet again.

This rebuild is going to be painful and lengthy. There are assets to trade in the off-season which hopefully will recoup some draft picks but it's going to take a miracle for the Jets to even begin to approach competitiveness until 2027. That's also wildly optimistic considering they haven't made the playoffs since Barack Obama was in his first term.

Don't get me wrong. I wanted Aaron Rodgers. I wanted Davante Adams. I wanted them to be good so badly. I'd lose a toe if you told me I'd get to see the Jets make a Super Bowl once in my life. I'm not even saying they have to win it for me to lose an appendage. Just get there. I understand that's pathetic. It's also not rational. I'm like a dying man in a desert. You show me a glass of water, I'll drink it. Even if it's salt water that will only dehydrate me and kill me.

The 31-6 loss to the Cardinals was perfectly appropriate end to the season and this chapter. I don't mean any disrespect to the Cardinals who are having a nice season and could get into the playoffs. They have a fun, interesting future ahead of them. Having said all of that, Aaron Rodgers getting beat like that by the Cards is fucking embarrassing. It was such a lifeless effort, even Jimmy Carter was insulted.

I feel bad for GM Joe Douglas because I would have made the same moves. I would also have zero business anywhere near a football front office. The results have been shit and he needs to go. The Jets needs to clean house from top to bottom and bring in all new people. Ideally, someone who has had success in the past. It's not easy to build a house when all you have a cement slab of a foundation. The Jets typically like to hire someone who has never built a team before. They need to go and cut large checks to people like Mike Vrabel who are playoff tested.

So that's the future. Get rid of everything, tank and be in cap hell for the next two years. Hopefully the resources you get in that time period allows the Jets to be competitive again. The present contains nothing but misery. The immediate future contains nothing but more misery. They are in worse shape competitively than every other team in the NFL. No other team has a bleaker future.

The only reason this gets worse is if Aaron Rodgers is back next year playing this soulless and miserable brand of football with his friends. Considering we are talking about the Jets, that's exactly what is going to happen. We'll just watch Aaron Rodgers forever.

Jets fans are in Hell right now and the only positive thing is how, much like the actual underworld, it's unseasonably warm out.
