Brandon Graham Is Done For The Year After Tearing His Tricep, Will Forever Be One Of The Most Legendary Eagles To Play In Philly
Brandon Graham is everything that you'd want your favorite football team to embody. When there's a team out there who is looking to establish a culture or an identity or whatever other buzz word you want to throw out there, they need to look at Brandon Graham as the blueprint. He's the perfect player to represent the heartbeat of a football team.
He shows up day after day, does his job, lifts up everyone around him, does it with a giant smile on his face, and that's how you become a guy who will go down as one of the greatest Philadelphia Eagles to ever strap on that winged helmet.
206 career games played. The longest tenured Eagle ever. Top 3 all-time in sacks by a Philadelphia Eagles. And will forever be remembered for the most important strip sack in Eagles history.
He had the most important sack of his career 7 years ago. But even at 36-years-old, he was still managing to get to the quarterback last night in LA.
As classic of a BG sack as they come. Unfortunately, there's a good chance it's the last sack of his career now that he's out for the season with a torn tricep.
But that doesn't mean that Brandon Graham's career as an Eagle is over just yet. He might not be on the field any more this season, but you know for damn sure that BG is going to still find a way to make a major impact on this defense moving forward the rest of the season. Sometimes having a guy like that on the sideline being able to help coach up the younger guys is even more impactful than what he'd be able to do on the field. Now that defensive line is going to be playing their dicks off every game in 55's honor. Now they know that they have to empty the tank every game because Brandon Graham would give anything to be out there with them. The Eagles are going to miss that production for sure, but he's still going to find a way to make up for it.
And it also has to be pointed out that there are some major parallels to 2017 here. For whatever reason, it seems like the Eagles need to sacrifice a tendon or muscle when they're in Los Angeles in order to go on to a Super Bowl. In 2017 it was Carson Wentz's ACL. He goes down in LA, the team rallies, and they find a way to bring it home a few months later. This time, maybe, it's Brandon Graham's tricep. There's still a long road ahead for the Eagles, but it just seems like this is going to be one of those defining moments of the season where the team really buys in on being a great team instead of just a great collection of individual players.
It's just hard not to get the same feeling out of this team right now.
It sucks because a legend like Brandon Graham deserves to go out on his own terms. But even if this is it, he's done more for this city than we could have ever asked for. Champion forever, put the number in the rafters, but first let's see if he can add another ring on those fingers for whenever he comes back to be inducted into the Eagles Hall of Fame.
