Holy shit - that might be the most vicious knockout I've seen in women's mixed martial arts since Meatball Molly's iconic spinning back elbow. Both opponents even fell limp in the same manner!
It wasn't until after making that side-by-side that I realized it felt a little mean, but I spent enough time making the side-by-side that I'm still gonna use it. I don't mean any disrespect by it! Just a simple visual-aid!
The KO comes from the LFA card earlier today, where Lany Silva won the LFA Strawweight Championship by scoring this in the fifth and final round of her fight with Rose Conceição. Landing something as perfect as that head kick in the final round of a championship fight just has to feel INCREDIBLE - like hitting a walk off grand slam in Game 7 of the World Series. It's what dreams are made of in mixed martial arts.
Many are comparing this knockout to the famous Valentina Shevchenko head kick KO over Jessica Eye, and they do look very similar….
That's still one of the best finishes in WMMA history. People forget that Jessica Eye wore a bulletproof vest to weigh-ins and Amanda Nunes tried to say Shevchenko didn't hit hard before this fight. Valentina hit em both with the 'old takes exposed' kick real quick.
P.S. Are we in the trust tree here? Can I admit something? You wanna know my first thought after seeing a head kick land THIS flush?

How fucking bad does that hurt your foot, kicking someone directly in the jaw? Isn't that like kicking the edge of a table as hard as you could?
I once did a Swanton Bomb off the back of my couch when I was little, and my foot caught a dresser on the way down - and I thought I was gonna need it amputated it hurt so bad. I sat there as guilty as Ralphie at the end of 'A Christmas Story' thinking, "My worst nightmares came true. Everyone warned me never to try this at home, I tried it at home, and now I'm gonna be footless for the rest of my life. I'm going to have a peg leg by eighth grade."
Luckily I was completely fine, and just being a pussy, but I still think about that pain sometimes when seeing fighters kick an elbow, chin, or shinbone. You gotta be one tough motherfucker to get in that cage.
