90s NBA Fans Rejoice! It Sounds Like NBC Is Looking To Bring Back "NBA Inside Stuff"

NBC News- The NBA is quietly preparing to bring back its iconic show “NBA Inside Stuff.” On Monday, the league filed two trademark applications for “NBA Inside Stuff,” the name of the long-running NBA highlight show that has aired on three different networks during its history — most notably from 1990 to 2006 on NBC and ABC. The show was briefly resurrected from 2013 to 2016 on NBA TV.
NBC is considering bringing back a “refreshed version” of the program, according to a person familiar with the matter. NBC will once again air live NBA games next season after losing the broadcast rights in 2002. No decision has been made on whether to renew the show, the people said. An NBC spokesman declined to comment.
The NBA did not immediately respond to a request to comment. However, a source close to the league said the filing is part of the NBA’s routine trademark process. The league previously owned multiple “NBA Inside Stuff” trademark registrations, but let them lapse, likely because it was no longer using the trademark.
I've heard enough! NBC is already the winner of the new NBA media deal as long as they simply bring back Inside Stuff and Roundball Rock. I know this may come off as controversial in 2025, but I'd rather hear Ahmad Rashad yell the days of the week while having fun announcing highlights over ex-players grumble about how much better the league was back when they were playing and dishing out hot takes about teams they don't even watch. Part of the reason people are so nostalgic about those glory days is because the people that covered the NBA actually did so in a fun way. What a concept!
I also realize that this article makes it very clear that Inside Stuff returning is not set in stone. But I have a hard time believing that NBC isn't serious about bringing back Inside Stuff if they are reporting it on their own damn site. I am reading this report as a test shot into the internet waters to see the reaction, which I imagine will be almost completely positive. Granted, Inside Stuff apparently came back a decade ago on NBA TV and I had no clue, but that sounds like more of an NBA TV problem than an Inside Stuff problem.
So hopefully NBC will do the right thing and bring back all the stuff we loved about their NBA coverage back in the day while trying to avoid all the nonsensical pitfalls that has made the NBA shows on their cable counterparts unwatchable over the years. I also wouldn't hate some appearances by the OG hosts of Inside Stuff like Hannah Storm, Willow Bay, and Summer Sanders,
Of course I can't end an NBA On NBC blog without HITTING THE MOTHERFUCKING MUSIC!!!!
