Goodbye, Friends: Jim Nantz Says He Plans To Retire From Calling The Masters ... In 2036. 11 Years From Now.

[Source] - “But if all the stars aligned, right now, it feels like a pretty good exit point. April 14, 2036. That is my scheduled retirement date. It would be a perfect place to walk out.”

However, Nantz – who was born in Charlotte, just a two-and-a-half hour drive from Augusta – did have a caveat to that.

“I know what’s going to happen,” he added. “I’m going to get to that year, and I’m going to say, ‘You know, maybe I could do this for a while longer.’

Believe it or not, Jim Nantz has said this before. Even more unbelievable I was able to find this in our search function just while I was looking something up. It was so long ago Feits blogged it:

Outrageous to say you're retiring in 11 years, even wilder to say it 20 years out. Now it makes sense why he keeps saying 2026. The 100th anniversary of the Masters, he wants to be there for that. Hell, I want him to be there for that. I'm a simple man when it comes to what I like. Jim Nantz is the perfect golf voice. He's all I know when it comes to The Masters. We already lost Verne Lundquist, which is going to blow. I want the guys I know calling the events I love more than anything. I want it to be 2046 and Jim Nantz is still hitting us with a hello, friends from Butler Cabin.

You know who really hates this though? Derek Jeter and Coach K. Two guys who milked the everliving shit out of a retirement tour. They are beyond annoyed they didn't think of this first. Imagine the amount of gifts and all the blowing they would have gotten on an 11-year retirement tour? It's insane to think about anything 11 years from now. I'm mostly just trying to get by each day, especially with 2 younger kids. You have younger kids and each day is a battle to survive and advance. 11 years might as well be fake.
